I am approaching the half-way point of A Cold Copper Moon. But I decided it was time to upload an excerpt from Blood Moon Rising. Tris (agent) has continued to shop it, but I thought I should give you a taste of the book before publication.
I'm continuing to develop the story of Maxie's kidnapping in A Cold Copper Moon. I will upload an excerpt from that book as well in the near future. Stay tuned. Hope you had a great holiday season these past two weeks! Connie

I received a pass from one of the Publishers the other day. But it was the nicest 'pass' I have ever received. But the good news is that three other publishers are still reading the book. Here's hoping…..!
And thanks to all of you for your patience as I wait for a pusher to pick it up. I'mentioned Tris a number of times in my blogs and realized that I haven't said much about him or his agency: Tristram C. Coburn/Literary Management. I am mentioning it here because agents--Tris for example--don't get the credit they deserve for all they do behind the scenes.
And love your new website! Connie Tris (Agent) tells me to keep my fingers crossed this Spring. Who know--maybe something will break as the ice melts in the streets. Thanks, Tris. Here's hoping!
I am almost at the one/third mark with A Cold Copper Moon--all about big oil in the Gulf of Mexico. There is a concurrent theme about the kidnapping of Maxie, Cooper's son. Hopefully he will find him in this novel--even I don't know!
Cooper follows the trail of the killing of a fishing captain to an oil rig drilling in the Florida Straits. Result: His client--daughter of the fishing guide--gets shot. Things get complicated when the rig is tied into a Chinese gang.
A Cold Copper Moon carries two plot lines. The first is a flashback to Maxie's kidnapping. He will either be found or not in this latest book--it happens in the Winter. Thus the name: A Cold Copper Moon.
The second major theme is Big Oil--and specifically about the encroachment of the oil companies in south Florida. Drilling is going on in the Everglades and there is a move to open up sections of the eastern region of the Gulf to oil exploration. Cooper gets caught in the middle of the Big Oil story and people get killed in the process. And so it's a cold time in South Florida. And the Moon, cold and copper in these winter months in the tropics, is the watchman. A special thanks to my Muse (wife) for her days and weeks of reading and editing. It was a time and energy consuming job. I had set a deadline for submitting to my agent and that made for more pressure. But it went out on Tuesday, October 8th.
I know she was thrilled for the break. Two weeks with no writing! But...I'm back into it now with A Cold Copper Moon. Thanks also to my son, Ryan, for all his editing help as well! He's now back at the university working on his doctoral dissertation. So, Blood Moon Rising is now in the hands of my agent (Tris). Here's hoping! Thanks to all of you (including Pam, Middy, Hans, Jim, Jane, Christine, Cathleen, Karyn, and others) for your feedback and inquiries about when my first book will come out. I'm hoping that Blood Moon Rising will be the one. Connie |
